Judging by the voting figures, it wouldn’t be pretty but it seems that if a street brawl was to occur between the president and the forgotten man who warmed the bench for the past few months then the sunglasses would emerge victorious. 64% of you would still jump to Ballardini’s defence while the other 36% get mauled helping out dear Claudius. For me, it would be the scrap that ends UFC as a form of entertainment.
What we can take from these results is simple; Davide might not have been the most popular of coaches to say the least but Lotito has accumulated too many black marks against his name for that to matter. In fact, it is a valid argument to say that appointing Ballardini in the first place or leaving him to work in a horrid atmosphere are considerable black marks. We could debate those matters all day and to an extent we already have so for the timebeing at least, let’s sweep this issue under the bed and be satisfied knowing that in a fight between the two, Claudio’s spectacles would get mangled beyond recognition.
There’s not much else going on in Rome at present so Cristiano and myself are looking ahead. As it is our 110th anniversary, the Lazio Offside team have decided that it would be apt to start drafting up some posts on previous heroes. Therefore, next week will be renamed “Legend’s Week” and we will have daily posts on those who have wrote their name in our history. From then on, you can expect weekly additions. As for tomorrow, I should have my “Worst Team of the Decade” ready after putting in weeks and weeks of thought. I will try and make humour an underlying theme in what would otherwise be a depressing topic. Forza Lazio!
